Our Story

Our Journey

Over the years, we have come across many women who lead a dejected life in spite of being so talented. we also found one thing common in all categories/status of ladies they want to spend their free time in enhancing their skills.
we always wished that we could make them utilise their free time in a productive manner and enable them to become financially independent by sharing, caring and growing, but we didn’t know where to begin.
With this desire in mind, we founded ‘Samman’ in 2015 to do something for this sector of ladies seeking help through my contacts with the retired navy officers’ wives and my Central School colleagues. we began by training four ladies in preparing chaat items and enabled them to gain the experience of participating in exhibitions in WTC, Nehru Science Centre, Kala Ghoda festival, and a few other places. We received a good response and positive feedback from our stall visitors attending these exhibitions.
we realised that this section of women was unaware of government plans or any other organisation that could assist them in the vicinity of their homes. Their young children loved the idea of putting the talents of their mothers to good use in their spare time, and they urged their mothers to join Samman. Since 2015, we have been gathering experience from a lot of trials in catering and craftwork to make such women self-reliant. Our persistent efforts are gradually taking us towards our mission.
We have been successful in making a single-parent self-reliant by getting her a contract to run a school canteen and helping out with her living arrangements. We were also able to get orders for providing healthy snacks in special schools, orphanages, etc. as a part of L&T company’s CSR project. This enabled us to make six other women financially independent to some extent.
Apart from these activities, Samman launched two products, miraculous seven-spice salt, and miraculous seven-grain atta, which are manufactured by women at their convenient time, thus enabling the homemakers to utilize their talents while taking care of their families.
Our motto is to promote healthy living in our society. We achieve this through our healthy food stalls, the healthy products we manufacture, and the various health-promoting activities. we conduct for our members, yoga classes. We also conduct awareness programs such as promoting the rights of women, environmental awareness, and good health by training the ladies in healthy cooking, organic farming, kitchen gardening, and other organic products. ALSO WE ARE MAKING THEM TECHNICALLY independent We also work for the welfare of the society by collaborating with other NGOs for Plantation drives, Plastic recycle drives, Runs for cause, and spending quality time at orphanages and old age homes.
After observing that these women never found time and opportunity to have fun by expressing themselves, Samman provided them a platform to showcase all forms of talents during the monthly meeting talent hunt programs where they could dance, sing, showcase their art craft, share their poetry or healthy recipes. We also provide technical training to our members so that they can attend meetings online, and do video & audio recordings. We encourage our women to become all-rounders, a combination of entrepreneurs, cooks, artists, writers, academicians, dancers, singers, actors, and whatever else they wish to be.
With the mission of reviving and nurturing the hidden talents of women from all walks of life, Samman was registered in 2017. We are Nari Shakti, with the experience of safeguarding our tradition and culture. We will be contributing in making India ATAMNIRBHER”
We are looking for support to fulfil our vision of having a centre where all talents can be nurtured under one roof, and we can grow by caring for each other and sharing our expertise.
